What personal data Halloween Unicorn handles, including the photos you upload, who processes it for us, and the control you have over it.
Overview
This policy describes what personal data Halloween Unicorn handles when you use the site, why we handle it, and what you can do about it. We try to hold as little as the service needs to function.
Data we hold about you
To run the service we gather these categories of data:
- Account details: your name, your email address and a hashed password, or the basic profile Google shares if you sign in with Google.
- Photos and generated images: the picture you upload, the preset you choose and the image that results. This is the most sensitive data we handle, so it has its own section below.
- Billing records: order and look history. Payments are handled by outside payment processors, and complete card numbers never reach our servers.
- Server logs: like any website, our hosting provider records technical details of each request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time.
- Visit statistics: aggregate visit counts may be collected if cookieless Plausible analytics is switched on. Google Analytics is not used. See the Cookie Policy for browser storage details and controls.
Photos and generated images
- Purpose: only to deliver the image you asked for and to show it in your My images list.
- Outside processor: the image is generated by an external image-generation service working on our behalf. We pass it the uploaded photo and the preset prompt required for the job. Your account details are not included.
- Model training: we do not use your uploaded photos to train any model of ours.
- No selling, no publishing: your photo and your image are never sold, posted publicly, or shown to other users.
- Your control: you can ask us at any time to delete a photo, an image or your whole account, and we will do it. Billing records are kept for as long as tax law requires.
Make sure you are entitled to use every photo you upload. The tool is for adults: do not upload photos of children.
Why we use it
We process the data above in order to:
- run, secure and maintain the service
- deliver the images you request and keep your look balance correct
- take payments, prevent fraud and answer support requests
We do not sell personal data and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Who helps us run the site
We rely on infrastructure providers such as our hosting, storage and database provider (Cloudflare), the image-generation provider, our payment and email delivery providers and, if you choose Google sign-in, Google. They process data on our behalf and only to provide those services.
Cookies
Reading the site sets no tracking cookies. Signing in uses a session cookie that keeps you logged in. The Cookie Policy has the specifics.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept until you ask us to delete the account. Photos and images are kept until you ask us to remove them. Server logs are kept for a short, rolling period, and emails are kept as long as needed to resolve the matter and to meet any legal obligation.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the data we hold about you, to restrict how we use it, or to export it. Email support@buddytheunicornai.org from the address on your account and we will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The tool is for people aged 18 and over and photos of children cannot be used. If you believe a child's photo or data has reached us, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will be made clear on this page.
